VERSANT Star is an integration product for merging relational technologyand object technology. Users can integrate relational technology (SQL, C,and relational databases) with object technology (Smalltalk, C++, ObjectSQL, and VERSANT ODBMS). Versant also supplies an object databasemanagement system (VERSANT ODBMS) which is an integral part of theVERSANT Star architecture; VERSANT ODBMS has achieved the highestperformance of all tested object and relational DBMSs.VERSANT Star automates the translation of information from relationaltables into objects and back again, relieving the developer of this task.VERSANT Star also has a common interface that shields developers from thedetails of accessing each individual database, and from accessing andupdating information across multiple distributed databases.
